Missed Connections

You missed your chance

M8  time to move on

It always does regardlessly

Time doesn’t share

The permanent quality

of nude photos at 15

Or any snap you save

Think about a place

Close your eyes

Go back and see

The blue signs

On cedar wood

Covered in synthetic gray

Paint peeling

preschool glue smeared

on hands for fun

peeling sunburns

satisfaction

 tearing the skin off

Open your eyes

Are you sad?

Pining for the past

The smell of pine

Behind your parents house

You cracked your adolescent room window

A thousand times

You pine for fantasy

Filling in the true vacancy

You see  lost

At sea in a boat

That has holes

It can’t float

It was meant to be

A sign on a road

But you squint

Then close til it’s

illusory safety

Now think of scarcity

Economics 101

State school across state lines

Thanks mom   Dad

My inheritance

No, my right

And the right  to ignore that

Too bad there’s not

more diamonds

To go around

And that mass consumption’s

Not elastic to go around

That particular stone

One of a kind

The grandest value

The only but

Money and labels

First and family

names always follow

The mythical order

Eastern countries

Praise but in plain sight

not inside Like us

liars and frauds

Even more-oblivion lovers

Fools, bastards

Dare I say  eternal savages

Surrounded by

Vainglorious trinkets

Vainglorified distractions, self

Congratulate “you did it”

Then I feel

The Quiet suspicion “what is it,

Again?” Our hollow language

In a two letter placeholder

No object or subject

But the object pronoun maintains

The shape to hold

Pathetic futility- true desperation

Of a loser so sore because

The prize was his only purpose

Self-anointed, beyond

The hope of camaraderie

There’s sacredness

In every now

Bent over the last that you lost

The next you toss

Throwing them each away

The cycle goes on

Please don’t let this one get away

Your cost
