Rain Worms

Sing the songs you do and turn up whatever outburst

is scheduled next in the summer saga I’m here for it

and the rain only makes me throw on rubber boots

let the wind invert umbrellas with weak frames  I don’t care

My tattoos fear washing off permanence

and that face

paint you spent hours perfecting

cutout in colors overlaid  posterized faker with the fake dripping  changing face

As it fades but god you look free ceding wet  I’ll probably stay

Splash the crystallized beads as inevitable running as inevitability contains

sidewalk worms collect near the hem

Of grass to the paved street

They’re so smart  easy letting go

The rain feeds the grass  fills homes

Erasing the holes where they sleep

They know not to drown

come out and dancing

I’m chocolate pudding soaked

Muddy and so sweet

I admire their bravery

The more rings the more tree

Your mane collecting twigs
